From Website Link to Ready Marketing Content  How It Works

Marketing has always been one of the hardest parts of running a small business. Between building a professional brand identity, producing quality visuals, and writing campaigns that actually convert, most entrepreneurs end up choosing between paying an agency they can't really afford or doing everything themselves with mixed results.

Google Labs and Google DeepMind think they have a better answer. Pomelli is a free, experimental AI marketing assistant that scans your website, learns your brand, and then generates ready-to-use marketing assets  from social posts to studio-quality product photos in minutes instead of weeks.

Launched in October 2025, Pomelli has gone through several major updates since then. This guide breaks down what it actually does today, how to use it step by step, what's changed in 2026, and where it still falls short.

 2.What Is Pomelli?

Pomelli is a web-based AI marketing tool built by Google Labs in partnership with Google DeepMind. It's designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), freelancers, and solo founders who need professional-looking marketing content without a design team or an agency retainer.

It's currently a public beta, free to use, and accessible through any Google account.

 3.Core Features

Business DNA Your Brand, Extracted Automatically

This is the foundation of the entire tool. You enter your website URL, and Pomelli analyzes it to build a "Business DNA" profile: your tone of voice, color palette, fonts, imagery style, and core messaging. If you don't have a website yet, you can build this profile from scratch by chatting with the Pomelli Agent or uploading existing brand materials and product photos.

Once your Business DNA exists, every asset Pomelli generates afterward  posts, ads, photos, even an entire website  stays visually and tonally consistent with it.

Campaign Generation

A web dashboard display with the header "Suggestions based on Business DNA" featuring three distinct cards under dark and light modes. The first light card lists "5 AI tools for July" with a image of a workstation. The middle and right dark cards are titled "3 skills for the 2026 creator" and "Don't get replaced, get automated," both featuring placeholder abstract images. Vertical icons are visible on the left side of the panel.

Based on your Business DNA, Pomelli suggests campaign ideas on its own, or you can prompt it directly (for example, "create a launch campaign for our new ceramic collection"). It generates social posts, ad creatives, and copy that you can edit inline before downloading. You can also ground a campaign by uploading your own images or pasting a product URL so Pomelli pulls in real titles, descriptions, and photos from your site.

Photoshoot  Studio-Quality Product Photos From a Single Image

Added in February 2026, Photoshoot is arguably the feature that put Pomelli on the map  its launch video reportedly pulled in over 20 million views online. You upload one photo of a product (it doesn't need to be a good one), and Pomelli uses Google's image-generation model to turn it into multiple professional shot types: Studio, Floating, Ingredient, and "In Use" (which can include an AI-generated model). You can also start from a product URL instead of an upload.

For businesses selling physical goods handmade ceramics, jewelry, coffee, skincare this can meaningfully cut the cost of product photography, which traditionally runs anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per shoot.

Animate Turning Static Assets Into Video

Launched in January 2026 and powered by Google's Veo video model, Animate lets you take any static post, ad, or product image you've already created in Pomelli and turn it into a short, on-brand animated video with one click — useful for Reels, TikTok, or video ads, with no editing skills required.

Agentic Capabilities Pomelli Agent, Brand Books, and Websites

The biggest expansion so far arrived in May 2026 at Google I/O. Three new pieces were added:

Pomelli Agent: an interactive assistant that helps you build your Business DNA conversationally, even if you have no website at all. You chat with it or upload documents and product photos, and it does the brand-definition work for you.

Brand Books: a generated, shareable document compiling your brand's fonts, colors, imagery, and guidelines  something that used to require a branding agency.

Websites: the ability to design and publish a complete website in just a few clicks, based on your established Business DNA.

Together, these push Pomelli beyond a content generator and toward a more complete brand-building tool  though, as with every beta feature here, results vary depending on how clear and well-structured your inputs are.

  4. Step-by-Step: How to Use Pomelli

A detailed mind map diagram titled "POMELLI," showcasing its core features including Business DNA extraction, campaign generation, professional photoshoot simulations, and agentic capabilities for video animation and website building.

Go to labs.google.com/pomelli  and sign in with a Google account (a personal Gmail account works; Workspace accounts may need admin approval).

Build your Business DNA by entering your website URL — or choose "No website yet" to build your brand profile through a conversation with the Pomelli Agent instead.

Review the extracted profile: tone of voice, color palette, fonts, and values. Edit anything that doesn't feel accurate before moving forward the quality of everything Pomelli generates afterward depends on this step.

Pick a campaign idea from Pomelli's suggestions, or type your own prompt describing what you need.

Try Photoshoot if you sell physical products: upload a photo or paste a product URL and choose a shot style.

Preview, edit, and download the generated assets. Everything is editable directly inside the tool before you export it.

Where It's Available Now

Pomelli launched in October 2025 limited to the US, Canada,  Animate, and New Zealand, in English only. That changed significantly on March 9, 2026, when Google expanded access to more than 170 countries and territories, including the UK, Japan, India, and most of Europe.

One important caveat: official availability inside the European Union remains limited due to ongoing compliance work tied to the EU AI Act and GDPR around AI-generated imagery. Some EU users currently need a VPN to access the tool, and broader EU-compliant availability is expected to follow in the coming months rather than being guaranteed on any fixed date. The interface and outputs remain English-only regardless of region.

What It Costs

Pomelli is completely free during its public beta. Google hasn't announced a pricing model for after the beta period, and as an experimental Labs product, there's no guarantee of how long free access will last or what features might eventually be paywalled.

6.Honest Limitations

Pomelli is genuinely useful, but it's not a replacement for a marketing team, and reviews of the beta have been mixed on execution. Paul Roetzer, founder of the Marketing AI Institute, tested the tool's campaign and editing workflow and concluded that marketers shouldn't worry about it replacing their jobs — but for a different reason than you'd expect: in his hands-on test, the tool struggled with a basic creative edit, which he saw as a sign the underlying model still needs significant fine-tuning from people who understand creative work before it's reliable for real campaigns.

Other recurring limitations worth knowing about:No native publishing. Pomelli generates and exports assets, but it doesn't schedule or post directly to social platforms   you'll still need a separate tool for that.

English only, even in newly added countries.Image editing is still limited compared to dedicated design tools; fine-grained adjustments may require touching up assets elsewhere.

Beta instability. As an experimental product, occasional bugs, inconsistent outputs, or usage limits are expected, and features can change without notice.

Brand complexity. Businesses with multiple sub-brands or highly specific guidelines may find the automated analysis too generic on its own.

7.Practical Recommendations

Treat Pomelli's output as a strong first draft, not a final deliverable  review and refine before publishing anything externally.

Make sure your website itself clearly reflects your brand (clean copy, consistent colors, good photos) before building your Business DNA from it; Pomelli can only extract what's actually there.

Use Photoshoot to cut product photography costs, but keep a few real photos on hand for cases where authenticity matters (e.g., handmade or artisanal products where customers expect to see the real thing).

If you're testing campaign ideas for clients or stakeholders, generate several variations quickly and use them to validate direction before committing budget to a final creative.

Send feedback through Pomelli's in-app feedback option — as a beta product, it's actively shaped by user reports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pomelli free?

Yes. It's currently a free public beta in all supported regions, with no announced pricing for after the beta.

Is Pomelli available where I am?

As of March 2026, Pomelli is available in over 170 countries, including most of Europe, the UK, Japan, and India, though full EU access is still being finalized for regulatory reasons. The interface is English-only.

Will Pomelli replace marketers or designers?

No. It automates early-stage content production  brand extraction, drafts, product images but still needs human judgment for strategy, nuance, and quality control, especially on detailed creative work.

How do I get started?

Visit labs.google.com/pomelli, sign in with a Google account, and either enter your website URL or start a conversation with the Pomelli Agent if you don't have one yet.

Are there usage limits?

Some beta users have reported hitting temporary usage limits, though Google hasn't published a fixed daily cap. Moderate, steady use is the safest approach during the beta.

Conclusion.

Pomelli represents a real shift in who gets access to professional-grade marketing tools. By automating brand identity extraction, product photography, video creation, and now even full website and brand-book generation, Google has put capabilities that used to require an agency budget into the hands of any business owner with a website  or even just an idea.

It's still an experimental product with real rough edges, and the honest reviews  including from marketing AI experts who've stress-tested it make clear it isn't ready to run unsupervised. But since it's free and takes only a few minutes to try, testing it against your own brand carries essentially no downside.

Given how quickly Google has shipped updates since launch — Photoshoot in February, Animate in January, and a full agentic suite in May  Pomelli is worth checking back on every few months rather than judging on a single first impression.
